Helena Thomas

Mezzo-Soprano

Chester-born and bred, Helena studied singing at the University of Durham and Goldsmiths College, London. For many years she toured extensively and made several recordings as a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and the BBC Symphony Chorus, with whom she was a regular soloist. Back in Cheshire, Helena has sung with Chester Bach Singers, Vale Royal Singers, Chester Cathedral Nave Choir and currently sings with Manchester-based Voce Scura and the Manchester Consort.

Helena has been a soloist with choral societies up and down the country, singing works including Mozart Requiem, Dvorak Stabat Mater, Stravinsky Les Noces, Handel Messiah, Vivaldi Gloria and Bach St Matthew Passion. Since qualifying as a music teacher, Helena has been coaching several children’s choirs, including the National Youth Training Choir of Great Britain, and is currently conductor of the Chester Music Society Youth Choir.
